WORD FROM THE WORKBENCH
Our sculptor Sarah Aplin has done a fantastic job with the two Cybermen figures from our new Classic Dr Who statue collection.
We had a lot of discussion over which period Cyberman we wanted to portray however it didn't take long for us all to agree that the 'Revenge' Cybermen were by far the most iconic.
Deciding upon the pose for the sculpt was pretty easy as this particular story had featured a memorable publicity shot that has appeared many times over the years depicting a Cyberman with arms outstretched and hands slightly clenched.
One of our concerns was that the original costumes were not what you might call 'detailed' and that as a result, our 1:6 scale replicas might look a little dull.
However, once Sarah had incorporated all the subtalties of the seams, creases and even the “hump” on the back of the neck, the finished sculpt looked very dynamic indeed and really captured the spirit of the character.
