WORD FROM THE WORKBENCH

Being granted the licence to produce Authentic Replicas of the Puppets from the shows of Gerry Anderson has given us a fantastic opportunity to fulfil one of our ambitions and create the best reproduction of these classic characters that have ever been seen.

Over the decades of being fans of the shows, members of staff have acquired a variety of castings of heads, hands and body parts of characters from a variety of sources for their own collections.

We are now able to utilize these parts in preparing our Puppet Replicas to ensure the most authentic representation possible.

While we are unable to “authenticate” the parts used as actually “Cast from original” – we have been able to astatine from our own extensive knowledge of the properties as to weather they have some credence as to their origin. You only have to look at Captain Scarlet to see what we mean!

Creating the clothing for Captain Scarlet was in fact far more difficult than the reproducing of the head and hands. Sourcing materials, fabrics, zips and fasteners that were available nearly 40 years ago was not an easy task and in some instances parts have had to be created completely from scratch.

Under discussion is the design for display case which will accompany the Puppet. Strong favourite at the moment is a circular base featuring the Spectrum logo with a clear acrylic “tube” for the clear case.

We are currently working out costs and are hoping to be able to bring you our puppet range for a very affordable price.
